Local purchases push up EGX early Sunday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) started Sunday’s trading session up on the back of Egyptian buying.

By 10:26 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index edged up 88.44 points, or 0.65%, to 13,770.06 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index inched up 0.07% to 695.5 points, while the broader EGX100 index added 0.12% to 1,740.11 points.

Similarly, the equal-weighted EGX50 index levelled up 0.47% to 2,193 points.

Trading volume amounted to around 24.4 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 67.36 million through 2,300 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 63.5 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 55.9 million and EGP 7.5 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) rose 1.41% to EGP 82.53.
