Cairo – Mubasher: The head of Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) has withdrawn from the Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries' (OAPEC) meeting on Thursday in Cairo.
The Libyan official withdrew in protest of not nominating his country’s representative as Secretary General for the organisation, according to an official at the conference.
“The nomination of Libya’s representative was rejected on the sidelines, and Kuwait’s Abbas Naqi was once again elected as secretary general”, the official added to Mubasher.
OAPEC consists of ten Arab countries, namely: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar, Libya, Algeria, Bahrain and Syria.
