Liberty’s Barton Engg enters final phase of Expo 2020 Dubai contract

Liberty Building Solutions, the Middle Eastern representative of the UK’s Barton Engineering conduit and accessories company – which has worked on projects such as Burj Khalifa, Dubai Airport expansion, Dubai Opera House, Meydan Racecourse, and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque – has entered the final phase of its contract to supply more than 500km of its products for Expo 2020 Dubai’s Al Wasl Plaza and Dubai Metro Red Line Extension, Route 2020.

The 130m-diameter Al Wasl Plaza, which will host the opening ceremony for 10,000 people at Expo 2020 Dubai, will feature a temperature-controlled domed trellis requiring electrical wiring within its steel structure to the height of the dome in pre-wired assemblies.

Barton’s flexible and rigid conduit systems will be used for Al Wasl Plaza’s lighting and power wiring installations and the dome’s advanced LED lighting and laser projection structures.

Other Expo 2020 Dubai projects, such as the UAE Pavilion, will also use Barton’s supply cable management wiring systems.

Commenting on the development, Liberty Building Solutions' chief executive officer, Richard Botting, said: “As the sole remaining UK manufacturer of conduit, Barton has been a reliable provider of cable management systems in the uniquely challenging Middle East conditions.”

Liberty acquired the Barton Engineering business in late 2015.
