Lebanon is the most expensive country in the GCC to buy a hot tall latte from Starbucks, according to the latest survey from Finder.
Individuals in 76 countries were asked to purchase the drink from a Starbucks store in their city. They were required to send three pictures, including one with the coffee, the receipt, and the menu.
Local coffee prices were then converted to US dollars using the exchange rate on September 12, 2019, according to XE.com.
And it found that a hot tall latte in Lebanon will set you back $4.31; UAE and Kuwait follow closely behind at $4.29 and $4.27 respectively; Bahrain is $4.20 and Oman, $4.11. While Saudi Arabia is the least expensive in the region at $3.73.
Topping the list is Copenhagen, Denmark, where a tall latte at Starbucks will cost the equivalent of $6.05, whereas those in Istanbul, Turkey, get the best value for money, paying just $1.78.
“We should expect coffee prices to be higher in wealthier countries and lower in poorer countries since there are a lot of factors impacting the cost of goods and services, including the local cost of raw materials, production and labour costs, taxes, tariffs and retailer pricing strategies,” said the report.
