Kuwaiti businessman mulls buying Charlton Athletic FC

Mubasher: Kuwaiti businessman Fawaz Al Hasawi is planning to purchase a UK's football club during the coming period, which is likely will be Charlton Athletic, Kuwait Times reported, citing informed sources as saying.

A photo was captured for Al Hasawi during his tour in the club’s stadium during the previous days.

A friend of Al Hasawi posted a picture for him on various social media websites with a caption ‘very soon ….loading’, according to Arabian Business.

“The photograph has since been deleted, but not before being re-posted by a number of local fans and football journalists,” it added.

Charlton Athletic is currently ranking in the eight place in England’s League One, while the club's fans are protesting against the current owner Roland Duchâtelet for selling it.

The Belgian billionaire businessman told a local magazine that buying this club was ‘a mistake’, affirming his plans to sell it.

“The football business doesn’t suit me. Too irrational,” he said. “If you want to lose real money, buy a football club,” he noted.

Previously, Al Hasawi owned Nottingham Forest FC owner from 2012 until 2017.

Established in June 1905, Charlton Athletic Football Club is an English professional association football club which is located in South East of London.
