Kuwait gov't suspends Watania Airways for 3M

Mubasher: The operating permit of Kuwait’s Wataniya Airways has been suspended for three months after the government’s ultimatum to reform the airline's operations expired, Minister of State for Housing and Minister of State for Services’ Affairs Jenan Boushehri said.

Boushehri noted that the local luxury carrier had "neither made tangible overhaul of its services nor introduced immediate reforms to operations, thus negatively affecting the national aviation sector and Kuwait's image abroad, as well as undermining passengers' interests,” Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported late on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, 4 September, Watania Airways, which was a publicly traded firm on Boursa Kuwait, noted that it was suspended after “unexpected circumstances”, as it left only one aircraft for commercial flights.

Earlier in August, the carrier has received a warning from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) as it might face a three-month ban it didn’t resolve issues regarding flight delays and cancellations by 6 September.
