KSA, France to build nonmetallic centre of excellence

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with French manufacturers, Plastipolis and Arkema, to establish a centre of excellence to foster nonmetallic industries in Saudi Arabia and France and promote local investment opportunities in nonmetallic in all sectors.

The signing took place on the sidelines of the 2nd Nonmetallic Symposium, which was held in Lyon, France, on 17-18 December 2019.

Commenting on the agreement, Ahmad Al Sa'adi, Senior Vice President of Technical Services at Saudi Aramco, said that “Nonmetallics represent an opportunity to address operational challenges, in terms of our operational sustainability, while also allowing us to grow in what is a key downstream sector.”

For Saudi Aramco, the growth, development, and application of nonmetallic materials will be transformational. We see the huge shift in technology that has shaped material science, providing new material and solutions to our industry,” he added.
