KNPC awards $30m deal to China’s Sinopec

Mubasher: MEED Magazine said that Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has awarded a contract valued at $30 million to Beijing-based Sinopec for executing maintenance and services works at Mina Al Ahmadi Refinery.

This contract is expected to be executed based on the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) system, Al Anba Newspaper reported.

MEED noted that three out of 30 companies have offered their bids for this EPC contract, the news portal said.

Kuwait intends to double its oil refining capacity compared to the current rate of 936,000 barrels per day (bpd) in both Mina Al Ahmadi and Mina Abdullah refineries.

Building Al Zour Refinery will raise Kuwait’s oil refining capacity to 1.7 million bpd by 2025 and to 2 million bpd by 2035, MEED said, according to Al Anba.
