JW Marriott Hotel launches Egypt’s 1st solar-powered hotel

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s JW Marriott Hotel has succeeded to be the first in the country to embrace solar power as its primary power source at one of its hotels.

The hospitality group has launched a roof-top solar power station at its New Cairo hotel after being awarded a financial grant from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Green Economy Financing, Egypt PV, and the Industrial Modernisation Center, 925 Egypt reported.

The solar power system has a capacity of 150 kilowatt and was installed by Gree Solar, a leading Egyptian solar energy company.

“Egypt has absolutely phenomenal potential with solar energy and it’s great to see businesses like this leading the way,” business development director at Gree Solar Thomas Kean said.
