Italy’s Eni unveils new gas discovery in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: Italy-based oil and gas company Eni on Thursday announced a new natural gas discovery at the Nour North Sinai Offshore concession.

The discovery is 50 kilometres away from North Sinai, Eni said in a statement.

"The Nour-1 New Field Wildcat (NFW), which has led to the discovery, was drilled by the Scarabeo-9 semi-sub in a water depth of 295 metres and reached a total depth of 5,914 metres," the Italian oil and gas producer said on its official website.

Eni has not tested the new well yet, but it has conducted accurate calculations on its data, according to the statement.

Eni holds a 40% stake in Nour North Sinai concession, while UK-based BP Plc, the UAE’s Mubadala Development Company, and Tharwa Petroleum Co own stakes of 25%, 20%, and 15% in the Egyptian concession, respectively.
