Iraq’s Genel Energy detected oil during a well test at Taq Taq field in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, Pipeline Oil and Gas Magazine reported.
The well has been linked to the production phase with an initial capacity of around 3,100 barrels per day (b/d), according to Genel.
After adding the new oil flow, the field’s gross production reached 13,750 b/d, up from 12,400 b/d in 2018.
“The well flowed oil from three separate zones, with a maximum individual zone flow rate of c.5,500 barrels of oil per day,” the company said in a statement.
In addition, Genel plans to drill three more wells in 2019 to achieve its goal for increasing the year-on-year (YoY) oil production.
