Iraq-Jordan-Egypt electric interconnection project currently underway – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: The Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Majed Muhammad Hantoush, said that the electric interconnection project with Jordan and Egypt is currently underway, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Monday.

Iraq is currently working on connecting its grid with Jordan's electric networks through a 300-kilometre-line, Hantoush added. The project is scheduled for completion within two years.

Then, the country will complete its electric connection with Egypt over three years, he noted.

Iraq’s electricity demand reaches 10,000 megawatts (MW) in winter and 28,000 MW in summer, Hantoush revealed.
