Iraq, Saudi Arabia reopen Arar border crossing for trade

Riyadh – Mubasher: Iraq’s Border Port Commission has opened on Wednesday the Arar border crossing with Saudi Arabia for trade.

Iraq’s Minister of Interior, Othman Al-Ghanmi, has opened the border crossing on behalf of the country’s Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, according to a statement.

On 17 September, state-run Iraqi News Agency reported that the Arar border crossing will reopen within 20 days.

In 2017, Saudi Arabia and Iraq planned to open the Arar border crossing for trade for the first time since 1990, when it was closed after the countries cut ties following Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, Reuters reported citing Saudi local media.
