Inflation in GCC remains stable in January – GCC-Stat

Mubasher: Inflation's rate in the GCC nations remained unchanged during January, compared to the same month in 2018, The Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat) data revealed on Sunday.

Inflation’s unchange occurred amid a rise in seven sections, excluding housing section, led by tobacco which levelled up 2.9%, whereas transportation section led losers with 2.8%, GCC-Stat’s data added.

Month-on-month, GCC’s inflation shed 0.1% in January, compared to December 2018.

The monthly drop was attributed to a 2.3% decline in transportation section, and a 0.4% decrease in clothes and footwear section.

On the other hand, prices of the tobacco section rose 1.9% in January, compared to December 2018, whereas health section remained stable at 120.4 points.
