Indian construction giant, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), announced it had won a contract to work on a “tourism-related facility” in Oman's capital city.
The contract is one of the $438.5m (INR30bn) deals that L&T’s construction arm has recently won through its buildings and factories division.
In a missive to Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), L&T said it had received the order “from a reputed client” to work on the Muscat project.
L&T’s scope under the contract includes work on the structure, architectural finishes, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) services.
The company is also due to provide “extensive landscaping and external development” work for the project.
According to the statement, L&T's second project within the $438.5m kitty relates to the development of India's tallest government office building.
Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) is L&T's client on the fast-track project.
BSE-listed L&T is among the established contractors within the Middle East’s construction landscape.
One of its regional employees, Bharath Kumar Reddy, was named Engineer of the Year at the Construction Week Oman Awards 2018.
Reddy, from L&T (Oman), was commended for his efforts to raise his knowledge of the construction industry through digital courses and studies.
He was also identified by judges as having improved company-wide operational efficiencies, as well as the productivity of his colleagues.
