Gov't spends EGP15bn on 'Takaful and Karama' since launching

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s government has spent EGP 15 billion on Takaful and Karama programme since launching, said social solidarity minister Ghada Wali.

Takaful and Karama is a funding programme that targets impoverished families to help with youth education and the elderly respectively. 

 

Upper Egypt region acquired EGP 13 billion of the total amount as the programme covers 5,630 villages across its governorates, Wali added during inaugurating some projects in Beni Suef.

In 2016, Egypt had spent EGP 4.1 billion on the programme, while the number of beneficiary cases amounted to 1.3 million.
