Germany’s Volkswagen mulls new investments in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Mohab Mamish was in talks with a delegate from German-based Volkswagen over investment opportunities in the SCZone.

The SCZone is at pains to attract major global firms such as Volkswagen, Mamish said in a statement on Thursday, adding that German automaker’ is welcome to invest in the SCZone as it will represent a robust addition to the region, mainly Egypt.

Moreover, the vice president of the SCA for the northern region highlighted that the authority will consider working with Volkswagen in the SCZone, either through setting up a factory to produce its component parts or establishing a logistics distribution centre.
