Female Emirati investors hold 3.5bn shares in ADX

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Emirate female investors in the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) reached 220,000 by the end of the first half of 2018.

Female investors hold around 3.5 billion shares with a market value of about AED 20 billion ($5.4 billion), according to data issued by the ADX on the sidelines of the Emirati Women's Day.

Their trading value totalled AED 1.8 billion during the six-month period ended June, data showed.

The UAE celebrates the fourth Emirati Women's Day under the theme "Women on the Course of Zayed", which coincides with President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan declaring 2018 the "Year of Zayed", state news agency Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

"The UAE celebrates August 28 each year confirming the strong belief of the UAE's leadership in the importance of the contributions of women and their role in the development efforts and the appreciation of the country," CEO of ADX Rashed Al Blooshi said.

Furthermore, Al Blooshi noted that Emirati female employees hold more than 58 positions in various ADX departments, making up 46% of total employees.
