Emaar Properties to open 5 retail link bridges in February

Dubai — Mubasher: Emaar Properties on Tuesday announced that the construction of five new retail link bridges in Dubai is on track as part of The Dubai Mall’s Zabeel expansion.

Set to be opened in February, the retail link bridges, which are executed with the support of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), will prop up road connectivity to The Dubai Mall, Emaar said in a statement.

The new retail bridge link will be the third in Downtown Dubai, Emaar said, noting that it eases access for visitors.

The Dubai Mall is the world’s most-visited retail and lifestyle destination and has welcomed more than 80 million annual visitors over the past four consecutive years, according to the statement.

“The longest bridge is over 765 metres while the others vary in length from 120 to 582 metres. The bridges are buttressed by over 580 piles of varying diameter adding to their stability and strength,” the real estate developer said.

Emaar has already opened link bridges from the Dubai Metro station, in addition to the bridge link between Address Boulevard and the Metro Link.

During the first nine months of 2018, the Dubai-based and listed developer logged a 28% year-on-year growth in net profits to AED 5.262 billion ($1.433 billion) from AED 4.102 billion ($1.117 billion).
