Egyptian electricity production increased by around 5.6% year-on-year (YOY) in May 2018, generating 15 mega kilowatt per hour (MkW/h) compared to 14.2 MkW/h in May 2017, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
The country’s electricity consumption rose by 4.2% YOY from 11.9 MkW/h in May 2017 to 12.4 MkW/h in May 2018, according to a report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The residential sector consumed the largest portion of the country’s electricity in May 2018, using 5.2 MkW/h or 42% of the country’s total consumption.
The industrial sector used 30% of the country’s total electricity consumption (3.7 MkW/h) making it the country’s second largest electricity consumer.
