Egyptian remittances rise 21% in FY17/18

Cairo - Mubasher: Egyptian expats’ remittances increased by around 21% or $4.6 billion during fiscal year 2017-2018, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

Money transfers from Egyptians living abroad reached $26.5 billion by the end of last year, compared with $21.9 billion in the year before.

April 2018 saw a 41.2% year-on-year surge in remittances to $2.3 billion, as shown by the CBE’s data.
