Egyptian gov’t pumps EGP 27.5bn into healthcare in FY19/20

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian government has allocated EGP 27.5 billion investments to the healthcare sector for the fiscal year 2019/2020, up EGP 5.7 billion from the year-ago period, planning minister al-Saeed stated on Wednesday.

During the fiscal year 2018/2019, the government pumped EGP 21.8 billion into the healthcare sector, the minister added.

Al-Saeed noted that the amount allocated for investments in healthcare in FY19/20 includes EGP 16.71 billion public investments and EGP 10.79 billion private investments.

The increase in the government’s investments in the healthcare sector comes in light of the rights guaranteed to citizens under the Egyptian constitution, Al-Saeed said.
