Egyptian capital market primary issues hits EGP 120bn

Cairo – Mubasher: Primary issues at the Egyptian capital market surged 32.6% year-on-year in 2018, recording EGP 119.8 billion ($7.04 billion), deputy chairman of Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) stated on Tuesday.

Total premiums of insurance companies reached EGP 29.5 billion last year, while insurers’ net investments recorded EGP 99.3 billion, Khaled El Nashar added.

The top official noted that mortgage went up to EGP 2.2 billion in 2018, compared to EGP 1.4 billion a year earlier.

The number of private insurance funds registered at the FRA reached 700 by the end of 2018, with total investments of EGP 70 billion.
