Egyptian Petrochemicals Co sets $300m expansion plan

Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian Petrochemicals Co has set a future expansion plan with investments of about $300 million, the company’s chairman Mohamed Abdel Azizi said.

The plan involves increasing the company’s production capacity to 200,000 tonnes of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) annually, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Petroleum on Monday. 

The company aims to raise the output capacity of its chlorine factory, resume setting up a new production line at vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) factory, and introduce a new production line at its PVC plant, Abdel Azizi revealed.

During fiscal year 2018/2019, the company injected investments of about EGP 515 million into replacements and renovations as well as achieving optimal safe operation at its production units.

Egyptian Petrochemicals Co’s PVC, caustic soda, and hydrochloric acid products reached EGP 1.6 billion, he added.

The company’s local sales registered EGP 1.5 billion, while its exports amounted to $24 million.
