Egyptian Gas Officially Reaches Jordan

Egypt has officially exported natural gas to Jordan, covering half of its power plants’ demands, a Jordanian government official told Jordan Times.

Egypt started re-exporting experimental quantities to Jordan in August 2018, and has lately started exporting around 165 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) of natural gas in order to cover gas supply in electricity generation.

“The resumption of Egyptian gas supply to Jordan is very good news for the country’s economy. It will help boost the various economic sectors and reduce the overall energy bill,” the official said.

According to an agreement between both countries, Egypt will export natural gas to Jordan at this level throughout 2019.
