Egyptian Engineering Sector Launches Trade Mission in Senegal to Expand African Market Reach

The Egyptian engineering industries sector has kicked off a significant trade mission in Dakar, Senegal, marking a strategic effort to deepen trade ties with African nations. The initiative, supported by the Engineering Industries Export Council, brings together nine leading Egyptian companies specializing in diverse fields such as household appliances, electrical equipment, automotive parts, metalworking solutions, and agricultural machinery.

The opening ceremony saw the participation of key Egyptian officials, including Ambassador Khaled Aref and Commercial Minister Plenipotentiary Tamer Karim, alongside Senegalese dignitaries such as the Secretary-General of the Dakar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and senior government advisors.

Throughout the mission, the Egyptian delegation engaged in important discussions with Senegalese ministries overseeing agriculture, electricity, education, and port management. These meetings aimed to identify collaborative opportunities and develop new export channels for Egyptian engineering products.

Mai Helmy, Executive Director of the Engineering Industries Export Council, highlighted that this mission is part of Egypt’s broader strategy to tap into West African markets, with Senegal recognized as a promising destination for Egyptian goods. She also underscored the potential benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement in facilitating market access and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports.

This trade mission reflects Egypt’s commitment to strengthening economic partnerships within Africa and advancing the presence of its engineering sector across the continent.
