Egypt to sell $5bn bonds soon - Finance Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is planning to sell nearly $5 billion in foreign currency bonds in the coming months, Reuters reported.

“We are going to sell bonds in the coming months in the market. It could be $5 billion plus or minus,” Mohamed Maait told reporters.

Over the past days, the finance ministry has cancelled two auctions for selling treasury bonds worth EGP 3.5 billion for the third time in a row due to the investors and banks demand for high interest rates that ranged between 18.40% and 18.60%.
