Cairo –Mubasher: Egypt will resume gas exportation by 2019 in accordance with the signed contracts, petroleum minister Tarek El-Molla said in call broadcast to CBC’s Hona Al'asema.

Importation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will end within the third quarter of 2018, El-Molla added, pointing out that importing the other kinds of natural gas will be suspended by the end of 2018.

The minister noted that Zohr field will initiate production next December with 350 million square feet, which will expand to 700 million square feet over six months.

Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Italy’s Eni, had previously said that production at the Egyptian field would start by the end of 2017.

Egypt’s natural gas output is forecasted to hit 6.2 billion cubic feet per day by the end of the end of the fiscal year 2017/2018.
