Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian, Ethiopian, Sudanese scientific experts are set to meet between 30 September and 3 October in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum to discuss proposals of the three countries concerning the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam’s (GERD) reservoirs.
A trilateral meeting of irrigation ministers will be held afterwards between 4-5 October to approve the final agreement, Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation said in a statement.
During a meeting held between 15-16 September, the Ethiopian representatives rejected Egypt’s proposed timeline for filling the GERD’s reservoirs.
Egypt seeks to reach an agreement which will meet the common interests of the three countries in accordance with the declaration of principles signed by Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia on 23 March 2015.
