Cairo – Mubasher: Financial derivatives are expected to be launched in the Egyptian securities market for the first time over the coming period, Egyptian Exchange (EGX) chairperson Mohamed Farid said.

Financial derivatives are one of the financial instruments that limit risks for investors, Farid remarked on the sidelines of Middle East Investment Conference 2018.

On 18 March, the finance ministry unveiled plans to offer up to 23 state-owned companies on the EGX at a total value of EGP 80 billion as part of the first phase of government-owned companies' initial public offerings (IPOs).

Earlier this month, Farid projected that only two state-run companies would be listed on the EGX this year.
