Egypt to build 7 bridges in Upper Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian government is executing seven major bridges over the Nile in Upper Egypt governorates, transport minister Hesham Arafat stated on Thursday.

The planned bridges are aimed at connecting the main roads on the Nile’s east and west banks, decreasing the cost of fuel and transportation, along with saving time, the minister added.

The new projects include the construction of the first and second phases of Tama Bridge in Sohag at lengths of 6.6 kilometres and 34.5 kilometres, with total costs of EGP 550 million and EGP 1 billion, respectively.

The plan also entails the construction of a 23 kilometre bridge in Aswan with a n overall cost of EGP 642.5 million, along with other bridges in Qena, Minya, and Assiut.
