Egypt secures EUR 1.6bn from EBRD to finance SMEs

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt secured EGP 1.7 billion in funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) since January to finance small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through local banks and sanitation projects in Alexandria, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Thursday.

The Ministry of International Cooperation signed an agreement worth EUR 120 million to develop and upgrade the western sanitation treatment plant in Alexandria.

In addition, other agreements have been signed to rehabilitate Cairo Metro Line 2 with EUR 1.2 million, support SMEs with EUR 1.6 billion, and develop transport infrastructure projects with a value of EUR 1.13 billion.
