Egypt’s orange exports to rise 7% in FY18/19

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s orange exports are expected to rise by 7% or 110,000 million tonnes during the harvest season of fiscal year 2018/2019, according to a report by the US Department of Agriculture.

The report expected the orange cultivated areas to increase by 5.1% in FY18/19, which would boost production by 8.6%, Enterprise reported.

Egypt is likely to remain the sixth largest orange producer and the first or the second largest exporter of fresh oranges in the world, the report said.

Top importers of Egyptian oranges are Saudi Arabia, Russia, Netherlands, and China, the report noted, pointing out that the Saudi kingdom imports 33% of it.
