Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, grew by 1.6% to 97.03 (initial) in September from 95.51 (final) in August, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The index of chemical and pharmaceutical industries increased by 2.5% to 126.0 in September, compared to 122.97 a month earlier, due to higher demand on sanitisers and detergents, data showed on Monday.
In addition, the index of non-metallic mineral products such as brick, glass, and cement advanced by 9.5% to 77.34 in September from 70.65 in the prior month thanks to the resumption of construction works.
On the other hand, the index of tobacco manufacturing fell by 1.9% to 147.12 in September, compared to 150.04 in August.
In the meantime, the index of clothing manufacturing slid by 5.6% to 84.31 in September from 89.27 a month before.
