Egypt’s manufacturing index advances 14.5% in June – CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, rose by 14.49% month-on-month (MoM) to 117.80 (initial) in June from 102.89 (final) in May, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The index of manufacturing beverages advanced by 13.23% to 368.63 in June from 325.56 a month earlier, on the back of increased demand in the summer season, the CAPMAS said in a statement on Monday.

Meanwhile, the index of manufacturing pharmaceutical and chemical products surged by 37.54% MoM to 124.55 in June, compared to 90.55, to supply the market's needs amid the COVID-19 pandemic. 

On the other hand, the index of the mining and quarrying industry fell by 16.08% MoM to 201.01 from 239.54 in May, while the index of the base metal industry declined by 1.26% to 67.03 from 67.89.
