Cairo - Mubasher: The total number of licensed vehicles in Egypt totalled 9.9 million by the end of December 2017, data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed.
Around 3.4 million vehicles were registered in northern Egypt, 3.3 million in urban governorates, and 2.9 million vehicles in Upper Egypt, Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported, citing the CAPMAS data.
Border governorates accounted for 2.7% of the vehicles or around 267,500.
Cairo dominated licensed vehicles with 2.5 million, followed by Giza with 1.1 million, and Alexandria with 581,700.
Licensed cars totalled 5.1 million, of which 4.7 million are private, while 1.3 million trucks and 155,800 busses were licensed during the same period.
