Egypt Today: The industrial production index for manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, reached 125.90 in October 2025 (preliminary), up from 120.27 in September 2025 (final). This represents an increase of 4.7 percent, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The index for computers, electronic and optical products, and medical devices saw a significant surge, rising to 166.13 in October 2025 from 78.11 in September 2025, marking a dramatic increase of 112.69 percent. This growth was driven by a boost in production.
For leather and its products, the index stood at 57.95 in October 2025, up from 39.96 in September 2025, reflecting a growth of 45.02 percent, which is attributed to higher demand.
In contrast, the index for machinery and equipment not classified elsewhere dropped to 105.34 in October 2025, compared to 131.98 in September 2025, a decrease of 20.18 percent. This decline was driven by a reduced demand for air conditioning units.
Similarly, the industrial production index for other manufacturing industries declined to 108.78 in October 2025 from 130.46 in September 2025, marking a decrease of 16.62 percent, attributed to a drop in demand.
