Egypt’s exports to Arab Countries record $16.2B in 2024

Egypt Today: The value of Egyptian exports to Arab countries reached $16.2 billion in 2024, compared to $13.6 billion in 2023, reflecting an increase of 18 percent, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization ( CAPMAS ).

CAPMAS highlighted that Saudi Arabia topped the list of the highest Arab importers from Egypt in 2024, with Egyptian exports to the kingdom valued at $3.4 billion. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates with $3.3 billion, Libya with $2 billion, Morocco with $1 billion, Algeria with $996 million, Sudan with $866.2 million, Iraq with $816 million, Lebanon with $763 million, Jordan with $752 million, and Palestine with $461 million.

This announcement coincided with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Baghdad, Iraq, to participate in the 34th Arab Summit. The summit comes at a critical time marked by numerous challenges and represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen Arab solidarity and address current issues.

Regarding the main groups of goods exported to Arab countries in 2024, CAPMAS noted the following: pearls, precious stones, and jewelry valued at $2.1 billion; fruits and vegetables at $1.6 billion; electrical and mechanical equipment at $1.2 billion; fuels, mineral oils, and their distillation products at $894 million; iron and steel at $805 million; various food preparations at $781 million; and copper and its products at $765 million.

CAPMAS also reported that Egyptian imports from Arab countries reached $14.3 billion in 2024, up from $12.4 billion in 2023, an increase of 14 percent. Saudi Arabia led as the top Arab exporter to Egypt, with imports valued at $7.9 billion, followed by the UAE at $2.7 billion, Kuwait at $947 million, Oman at $664 million, Bahrain at $584 million, Sudan at $292.4 million, Iraq at $284 million, Jordan at $255.8 million, and Lebanon at $238 million.

The main groups of goods imported from Arab countries in 2024 included fuels, mineral oils, and distillation products worth $7.5 billion; plastics and their products at $1.9 billion; copper and its products at $759 million; metal ores at $581 million; aluminum and its products at $460 million; iron and steel at $449 million; chemical products at $313 million; and electrical machinery and equipment at $309 million.

Data from CAPMAS showed that the total trade volume between Egypt and Arab countries rose to $30.5 billion in 2024, compared to $26 billion in 2023, a growth of 16 percent. Furthermore, Arab investments in Egypt surged to $41.5 billion during the fiscal year 2023/2024, up from $7.3 billion in 2022/2023.

The UAE ranked first among Arab countries in terms of investment in Egypt during 2023/2024, with investments totaling $38.9 billion. It was followed by Saudi Arabia with $775.5 million, Qatar with $618.5 million, Kuwait with $547.7 million, Bahrain with $305.9 million, Morocco with $151.4 million, and Lebanon with $51.2 million.

Meanwhile, Egyptian investments in Arab countries amounted to $2.1 billion in 2023/2024, down from $3 billion in 2022/2023. The UAE was also the top destination for Egyptian investments among Arab countries in 2023/2024, with $1.4 billion invested, followed by Kuwait with $194.2 million, Saudi Arabia with $190 million, Qatar with $171.5 million, Bahrain with $66.9 million, Tunisia with $23.5 million, and Morocco with $16 million.
