Cairo – Mubasher: Yields on Egypt’s 266-day treasury bills (T-bills) rose by 19.989%, the highest since August 2017, at Sunday’s auction for the fourth consecutive week.

Proceeds from the 266-day T-bills amounted to EGP 4.03 billion, after around EGP 6.6 billion provided by banks for EGP 8.5 billion debt notes offered by the finance ministry, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) data.

Yields on the 91-day T-bills stood at 19.78% with EGP 9.5 billion in proceeds, the central bank noted.

It is worth noting that yields on T-bills and bonds rose remarkably since last November in line with the tax amendments on debt instruments approved by the finance ministry.
