Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian online marketplace for babysitters and tutors Orcas announced that it has raised $500,000 in a pre-Series A funding round led by Algebra Ventures, Egypt’s leading venture capital (VC) fund.
San Francisco-based VC fund NFX Capital took part in the funding round, the Egyptian startup said in a statement on Wednesday.
Established in 2014, Orcas is a platform that connects parents and students with trusted and user-rated tutors and babysitters.
With more than 20,000 students signed up to the app, Orcas is currently active in Cairo, Alexandria, El-Gouna, and the North Coast.
