Egypt mulls organising UFM 2019 forum

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is considering to organise the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM) Forum 2019 in an attempt to lure further investors.

Egyptian industry and trade minister Amr Nassar has discussed the possibility of organising the 2019 forum by the North African nation with the Secretary-General of UFM Nasser Kamel on Sunday.

During his first visit to Cairo, Kamel will hold meetings with the ministers of foreign affairs, transport, and energy, as well as the secretary-general of the Arab League, Egypt today reported.

Talks will tackle the contribution of the most populous Arab country to the sustainable development projects in the Arab league’s countries, mainly in the transportation and energy sectors, Kamel said.

He praised that the key role of Egypt in the UFM since it was founded in 2008.

For his part, Nassar stressed the importance of the collaboration between member states to reinforce trade agreements within the organisation and expand its geographical scope. Accordingly, trade between the Mediterranean countries will grow stronger and easier.

The UFM Conference on Maritime Transport and Logistics was held in the governorate of Ismailia, Egypt for two days and was inaugurated by former Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.
