Egypt inks MoU on green hydrogen with Siemens

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) and Siemens Energy for the development of green hydrogen industry in Egypt.

The MoU will enhance cooperation between the two companies in developing several projects in the green hydrogen industry in the future, Madbouly said in a statement on Tuesday.

This follows a letter of intent signed between EEHC and Siemens Energy in January for considering the implementation of a green hydrogen generation project powered by renewable energy sources with a capacity of more than 100 megawatts (MW) using EPC + Finance system, Shaker noted.

A committee has been formed between the two companies to study the possible means for developing the green hydrogen industry in Egypt with Siemens conducting a feasibility study for the project.
