Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's consumption of petroleum products and natural gas retreated 0.26% to 79.1 million tonnes in fiscal year 2017/2018, compared to 79.3 million a year earlier, data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed.
Moreover, emissions resulting from the consumption of petroleum products and natural gas fell by 1.5% to 206.8 million tonnes in the twelve-month period ended 30 June, compared to 210 million in FY16/17.
Electric power generated from environmentally-friendly energy sources reached 2,780 gigawatts (GW) per hour in FY16/17, rising by 24.9% year-on-year from 2,225.5 GW/hour.
In addition, the number of vehicles converted to natural gas stood at 6,416 in FY16/17 and the shift to natural gas from heavy fuel results in reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 656.336 tonnes a year.
