Egypt, USAD agree on funding projects with $105m

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation signed an agreement with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to finance five projects with a total value of $105 million.

The planned projects focus on women economic and social empowerment, economic governance, digitalisation of government services, economic courts, and development of the neediest govenrorates, according to a statement on Tuesday.

In addition, the two parties have agreed on a new cooperation strategy over the next five years.

This came during a video-conference meeting between the minister of international cooperation Rania Al-Mashat and the USAID’s mission director in Egypt Sherry Carlin, along with other USAID’s officials.

It is worth mentioning that the USAID has invested about $1 billion in various sectors in Egypt, including agriculture, basic education, higher education, health, tourism, trade, investment, women empowerment, as well as small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
