EGX opens Wednesday up on local, Arab buying

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) saw a positive performance early Wednesday on the back of Egyptian and Arab buying.

By 10:28 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index opened 0.42% or 58.71 points up at 14,191.88 points.

The EGX70 index inched up 0.25% to 769.95 points, while the EGX100 index added 0.35% to 1,752.56 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index rose 0.57% to 2,484 points.

Trading volume reached about 26.10 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 107.9 million through 2,400 transactions.

Foreign investors were net sellers with EGP 20.4 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 19.6 million and EGP 682,200, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) edged up 0.12% to EGP 75.8 with a turnover of EGP 2.9 million.
