EGX on mixed note at mid-session

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange gave a varied performance at Monday’s mid-trading session on Arab investors’ selling wave.

The main index erased part of its early gains, but remains 0.57% higher to 7,560 points by 12:01pm Cairo time.

The equal-weighted index EGX50 inched down 0.01% to 1,345 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 edged down 0.61% to 358, thus reversing its early gains.

The broader index EGX100 rose 0.46% to the level of 766 points.

With 181 million shares changing hands, the bourse added EGP 473 million through 12,700 transactions.

Arab investors were net sellers by EGP 18.8 million, while nationals and foreign investors were net buyers by EGP 6.7 million and EGP 12.1 million respectively.

Trans Oceans Tours led the gainers by 16.7%, while El Orouba Securities headed the top losers with a fall of 9.72%.

Earlier, Ahmed Abdel Hamid, managing director at Watheeqa Securities Brokerage, expected the main gauge to test the mark of 7,540 points with a temporary correction to keep sloping upwardly.
