EGX indices surge in 1st post-holiday session; turnover surpasses EGP 4.7bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices achieved good leaps on Monday, the first after the Eid Al Fitr holiday.

The EGX30 main index surged by 3.90% to close at 29,616.47 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 EWI jumped by 2.36% to stand at 6,696.15 points.

On the other hand, the EGX100 EWI rose by 2.93% to end at 9,584.51 points.

EGX’s turnover amounted to EGP 4.75 billion after 874.76 million shares were traded, while the market cap value reached EGP 1.99 trillion.

As for trading on securities, the Egyptian traders were the net buyers with EGP 354.04 million. The Arab and foreign investors were the net sellers with EGP 159.77 million and EGP 194.27 million, respectively.

In Ramadan, the capital markets in the Arab region showed mixed performance, with five markets rising and eight declining.
