EGX hits 10M low Thursday

Cairo – Mubasher: Local sell-offs weighed on the indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) at Thursday’s trading session closing.

The benchmark EGX30 index lost 15.08 points, or 0.11%, finishing the session at 14,083.48 points, its lowest level since November 2017.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index fell 1.68% to 682.88 points, while the broader EGX100 index dropped 1.58% to 1,740.19 points.

Trading volume amounted to nearly 301.6 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.4 billion through 31,300 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 352.2 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 279.7 million and EGP 72.5 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) rose 1.84% at EGP 81.99, with a turnover of EGP 86.7 million.

Market capitalisation lost EGP 5.5 billion and closed at EGP 780.1 billion.
