EGX ends week down; market cap sheds EGP 27.7bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed the week ended Thursday, 16 August in red territory and market capitalization lost around EGP 27.7 billion.

The benchmark EGX30 index fell 3.94%, finishing the week at 15,295.97 points, versus 15,924.06 last week.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index tumbled 1.82% to 740.28 points, compared to 754.06 points in the previous week.

Meanwhile, the broader EGX100 index closed this week 2.77% down at 1,899.55 points, versus 1,953.73 points in the prior week.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index plummeted 4.55% to 2,523.08 points, compared to closing at 2,643.44 points last week.

Market capitalisation lost EGP 27.8 billion and closed the week at EGP 858.02 billion, against EGP 885.7 last week.
