EGX ends Wednesday in red on local, Arab sales

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session on a negative note.

The benchmark EGX30 index fell by 0.58%, finishing the session at 13,641 points.

In addition, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 index slid by 0.3% to close at 530 points, while the broader EGX100 index dropped by 0.35% to end the session at 1,371 points.

Similarly, the equal-weighted EGX50 index went down 0.67% to 2,010 points.  

Market capitalisation retreated EGP 2.37 billion to EGP 727.12 billion on Wednesday from EGP 729.49 billion on Tuesday.

Trading volume amounted to 133.72 million securities exchanged at a turnover of EGP 4.46 billion through nearly 13,420 transactions.

Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 1.31 billion and EGP 32.9 million, respectively, while foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 1.35 billion.
